The No Surprises Act went into effect January 1, 2022, and is intended to ensure that you understand what you will be paying me for any services received, before agreeing to pay, and will protect you from receiving any unexpected bills or unexpected costs for services.
You can read more about the No Surprises Act and my services here.
Helpful tips to navigate the insurance reimbursement process:
-
First, confirm with your insurance provider that they provide partial payment reimbursements for out-of-network mental health services.
-
Most insurance plans require you to first pay a deductible and once that deductible is reached, they will reimburse a percentage of the fee (typically between 75-80% of the costs).
-
Clients with a government Health Savings Account are able to receive full reimbursement according to the terms of their plan.
Questions to ask your insurance company regarding your plan:
-
What coverage does my plan provide for out-of-network mental health services?
-
Do I have an annual deductible?
-
If so, how much of my annual deductible has already been met?
-
What is the reimbursement rate for an out of network provider?
-
How do I to submit documentation for a reimbursement?
-
Are there any limits to how many therapy sessions my current plan covers?
Lastly, you will be provided with a superbill (an itemized receipt which details services provided) to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. We will assist you in filing the out-of-network insurance claims for services.
